MAST ACADEMY (Math And Science Technology)

Kamiloiki MAST Academy

In ancient times Hawaiians used the milo tree in their daily lives. Although too small to be the mast of a sailing vessel, it was used extensively on canoes and sailing ships. The mast of a sailing vessel converts wind energy to motion. Similarly, Kamiloiki's MAST will harness the energy of young bodies and minds in progress towards productive and fulfilling lives.

Our Vision

At Kamiloiki, our vision is to be a premier math and science/technology center that emphasizes exploration, discovery, and achievement within a global community.

Our Mission

Our mission at Kamiloiki Elementary School is to promote a partnership of students, parents, community and staff dedicated to providing all students with opportunities to reach their academic, social, and creative potentials within a nurturing environment.

Our Goals

Increase the number of students wo become self-directed learners, community contributors, complex thinkers, quality producers, effective communicators, and effective and ethical users of technology.

Prepare students to consistently meet student achieveent goals in standards-based science and math education.

Our Program

The MAST Academy will support excellence in math, science, and literacy throughout our entire program at Kamiloiki School.

Major instructional methods include integrated math-science units, problem based learning, inquiry and criticalo thinking, and integration of technology.

Curriculum, instruction, and assessment will meet a high level or rigor and relevance in all classrooms.

Through this program, students will value and enjoy the wonderment of math and science as they begin their journeytogether on this lifelong voyage.
